There’s some music that can make you knees shake when you listen to it. The rhythm, the melody, and more often than not, an incredibly sexy and passionate voice can sometimes do things to you that can’t be accomplished by the hands of so many inferior men.
To me, while there are many songs from many genres that do this for me, the genre that can most get my engine revving is old school soul music. It is the sound of pure, animalistic sex, as well as the sound of the factory. It’s simple, it’s rhythmic, it’s savage. More importantly, it’s passionate and powerful–the same qualities I admire in a man. The same qualities I possess myself. Perhaps this is why I feel a kinship with it.
“When a Man Loves a Woman” is a song that captures the devotion a man should show a lady. “Try a Little Tenderness”, so beautiful and soulful, is also another humbling gem for any man to listen to. And just the sound of Al Green’s voice, no matter the song, is enough to get anyone in the mood:)
But sometimes, words aren’t even necessary. The jazz age produced some wonderful instrumental, sex ridden music that says it all without saying anything. Charlie Parker, so unpredictable, springs to mind when I think of the correlations between sex and music. And, of course, John Coltrane–so smooth, so flawless. He has a wonderful ability to bring his compositions to their most logical conclusion, and still keep you guessing. If only more could behave the way he composes:)
I’m curious, what music makes your legs shake, your spine tingle, and cocks rock solid? Do tell.
Cruel to be kind,
Empress Whitney
